Beijing - Minister for Health and Population Pradip Paudel, attended and addressed the Boao Forum for Asia Global Health Forum 2025 conference held in Beijing, themed “New Future of Health Industry: Driven by Innovation.”
In his plenary session speech Minister Paudel emphasized the potential of modern technology to reduce healthcare costs, enhance diagnostic accuracy, improve health system management, and enable better risk mapping. He stressed that digital health innovations are crucial to extending care to underserved populations. Highlighting Nepal’s commitment, he noted the country’s active promotion of digital health transformation through its National Digital Health Strategy. He called for stronger international collaboration in knowledge sharing and capacity building to ensure equitable use of health technologies.
During a panel discussion on “Actively Responding to Climate Change for the Common Health of Humanity and the Planet,” the Minister pointed out the shifting disease patterns caused by climate change and urged the global community to recognize climate-induced health risks as urgent issues requiring immediate attention and resources. He also shared Nepal’s preparedness efforts, including the Health National Adaptation Plan integrated in the recent Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).
On the sidelines, Minister Paudel met with Shen Hongbin, Director of China’s National Disease Control and Prevention Administration (NDCPA). They discussed enhancing Nepal-China cooperation in health, focusing on support for vector-borne disease research in Hetauda and neuro-treatment centers in government hospitals. Both sides committed to strengthening bilateral health sector collaboration. Nepal’s Ambassador to China, H.E. Dr. Krishna Prasad Oli, accompanied the Minister throughout the visit.
Additionally, the Minister engaged with the Nepali community in Beijing, encouraging them to contribute to Nepal’s development by leveraging the knowledge and skills acquired abroad.
Minister Pradip Paudel arrived in Beijing on 23 July and departed for Kathmandu on 26 July 2025, with Embassy officials and Ambassador Dr. Oli bidding him farewell at the airport.
