NEPSE Falls 33.33 Points Amid Broad-Based Selloff

Kathmandu | After a brief pause in its upward movement, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) witnessed a notable correction on monday , plunging by 33.33 points or 1.23%, closing at 2,670.06. This decline follows a modest gain of 3.35 points (0.12%) in the previous trading session.

NEPSE opened the day at 2,703.47, touched an intraday high of 2,710.13, and fell to a low of 2,667.56 before settling at 2,670.06, reflecting a day dominated by selling pressure.

Turnover and Market Capitalization

Despite the drop in the index, total market turnover remained relatively strong, clocking in at NPR 5,658,973,766.40, although lower than Thursday’s NPR 7,766,082,731.80. The market capitalization also shrank, standing at NPR 4,433,685,355,344.09, indicating a decline in the overall value of listed companies.

Market Activity

A total of 322 stocks were traded during the session. 23 scrips advanced, while a sharp 221 declined, showcasing a broad-based weakness across the board.

  • Butwal Power Company Limited (BPCL) gained 6.63%

  • Sindhu Bikas Bank (SINDHU) rose 6.44%

  • Kumari Sabal Yojana (KSY) advanced 4.60%
