President Paudel Highlights Nepal’s Commitment to Social Justice and Inclusivity at Doha Summit

Doha - President Ramchandra Paudel addressed the Plenary Meetings of the Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha today, reaffirming Nepal’s unwavering commitment to advancing social justice, inclusivity, and sustainable development in line with the Copenhagen Declaration and the 2030 Agenda.

In his address, President Paudel underscored the importance of effective implementation of the Doha Declaration and called for ensuring quality education, universal health coverage, and the empowerment of women and youth. He emphasized that inclusivity and shared prosperity form the foundation of lasting peace, human dignity, and sustainable progress, urging the international community to take collective action to ensure socio-economic development for all.

The President further highlighted the need for enhanced international cooperation, equitable access to resources, and stronger implementation of global commitments to achieve just and inclusive development.

Also today, President Paudel participated in the High-Level Roundtable I on the theme “Strengthening the Three Pillars of Social Development: Poverty Eradication, Full and Productive Employment and Decent Work for All, and Social Inclusion.” Speaking at the session, he stressed the importance of good governance through democratic and inclusive policies, accountable institutions, and transparent public service delivery as the basis for sustainable, human-centered development.

On the sidelines of the Summit, the United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres paid a courtesy call on President Paudel. The two discussed strengthening cooperation between Nepal and the United Nations and explored ways to enhance multilateral engagement in support of Nepal’s development priorities.

Later in the afternoon, President Paudel attended a State Banquet hosted by the Amir of the State of Qatar in honor of visiting Heads of State and Government. The President is scheduled to return to Nepal on the morning of November 6, 2025.
